Over the south of East Asia is South East Asia which is made up great backpacking sites for travelers and tourists from all over the world. Members of South East Asia include Brunei, which is home to one of the richest man in the world, the oil-rich Sultan of Brunei, East Timor which is the latest addition to the group and Cambodia which is an age-old heritage filled country. Indonesia, the biggest country of this group houses more than 240 million people in population and some 18,000 islands. Malaysia which is one of the highly modernized country located at the middle of this cluster made up of the Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia in Borneo Island. Laos is one of the developing countries located in within the Indochina group here which includes Thailand which is a hugely popular tourist destination. Myanmar, previously known as Burma is also part of this group while Vietnam a fast growing economic power boosted by its huge population in manufacturing and industrialization and Philippines, the former American colony. The most advanced country in this group is Singapore which is famous for its well planned and orderly system implemented.
Southeast Asia is one of the most popular tourist destinations in around the world perhaps due to its weather and the richness in tradition and culture. It is growing in terms of industrialization, promoting manufacturing and other sectors. Tourists who come to Southeast Asia are often enthralled by its low prices in food and shopping as well as its excellent beach side resorts. Apart from that there are many other parks and forest that are still untouched amidst the many diving sites and adventure trails.
Getting to Southeast Asia is possible through the many international airports located around the region. All major capitals like Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Manila and Jakarta serves international flights that come and go every day. The trend though is growing with more low-cost carriers like Cebu Pacific from the Philippines, Air Asia from Malaysia and Tiger Airways from Singapore all providing cheaper flights to commute between the cities around this region as well as others.
For most tourists, one of the main attractions here are the cultural diversity that are usually promoted by the governments of each country here. There are usually many events that are being run throughout the year to please those who are interested in culture and traditions. The languages spoken in around Southeast Asia is very different though. Each country speaks a different language although there are similiarities between the Malaysian and Indonesian languages, other countries like Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand all have their own unique languages that might prove a handful for English speaking travelers.
Having said that, English is by far the most common international languages spoken in around Southeast Asia. In countries like Singapore and Malaysia, English language is often spoken and understood because of their education systems there. The people of Thailand and Cambodia too speaks a bit of English while the Philippines are very well versed as it is one of their daily conversation languages.
